Following a serious incident earlier this year on Fuller Street Bridge, there has been a resurgence in the impetus for improved street lighting in Cleethorpes. North Wall area’s local MP, Melanie Onn, has been at the forefront of a campaign that seeks to increase safety measures in the neighbourhood. The campaign has seen considerable levels of support from the community, with over 200 residents signing a petition in favour of improved lighting. The arrest of a 15-year-old male suspect by Humberside Police, in connection to the incident, has been confirmed – he remains on conditional bail while investigations proceed. The council has committed to reviewing the state of street lighting as part of its response to the concerns presented by the community.
