Dame Andrea Jenkyns Leads Tight Race in Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral Bid

Dame Andrea Jenkyns is leading the race for the newly formed Greater Lincolnshire mayoral role, according to the most recent bookmaker odds. The elections coincide with the foundation of the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. Six candidates from the Conservative, Labour, Green, Reform UK, Lincolnshire Independents, and Liberal Democrat parties are competing for the title.

The data, obtained from bookmakers such as William Hill, Ladbrokes, and Coral, ranks Ms Jenkyns, the nominee from Reform UK, as the first contender. Her odds stand at 8/11 at William Hill and 4/6 at Ladbrokes and Coral. Rob Waltham from the Conservative party trails just behind with odds of 11/10 at William Hill and 6/5 at the other bookmakers.

Labour’s represented, Jason Stockwood, has been listed at 10/1, while the Lincolnshire Independents candidate Marianne Overton stands at 33/1. Liberal Democrat hopeful Trevor Young faces odds of 50/1 at William Hill and 66/1 with other bookmakers. Trailing at the end is the Green Party’s Sally Horscroft with odds of 100/1.

Despite having the odds in her favour, Ms Jenkyns may face potential disqualification due to complaints about her primary residence purportedly being in Yorkshire, where she formerly served as an MP. This concern will be reviewed in a hearing scheduled for Friday, 25 April, a few days before the election. Ms Jenkyns’s party, Reform UK, has dismissed these complaints as politically influenced while demonstrating strong confidence in her candidacy.

Ms Jenkyns, however, has raised concerns by opting out of a recent online hustings event, leading to questions about her dedication to the campaign.
