Reform UK Leads Lincolnshire Mayoral Race, Poll Reveals

A recent YouGov survey indicates a significant lead for Reform UK’s candidate, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, in the mayoral race for Greater Lincolnshire. The poll, featuring 1,218 local adults, places Dame Andrea at a decisive 40% of the decided vote compared to her nearest competitor, Rob Waltham, a Conservative candidate with 25%. Jason Stockwood of the Labour party has managed 15%, closely followed by Sally Horscroft of the Green Party at 8%, Lincolnshire Independent’s Marianne Overton at 7%, and the Liberal Democrats’ Trevor Young at 5%.

The survey conducted earlier this month suggests strong favourability for Dame Andrea, especially among voters aged over 50 and those who previously supported the Conservative Party in the 2024 General Election. Her popularity also extends to supporters of the Brexit referendum. However, Labour continues to be the preferred choice for those who voted Remain.

Just under a week ahead of the election on Thursday, 1 May, the survey reveals around 22% of respondents have yet to make their final decision, and an additional 21% do not intend to vote at all. Notably, the Green Party’s candidate Sally Horscroft commands her most robust support amongst the 18-24 age demographic.

The poll also anticipates a Reform triumph in Hull, with ex-boxer Luke Campbell leading at 35%, ahead of the 21% secured by Liberal Democrat Mike Ross.

Looking ahead, the recently created mayoral position for Greater Lincolnshire will manage a £24 million annual budget for the next thirty years, overseeing sectors such as transport, investment, and housing. Election results are predicted to be announced during the early hours of Friday, 2 May.
