In the wake of Grimsby Live’s efforts to prevent the closure of a crucial hydrotherapy pool, we’re reflecting on the dedicated personalities who brought this priceless asset to life. First unveiled on 5th July 2006 by Sophie, Countess of Wessex (now Duchess of Edinburgh), the hydrotherapy pool at Humberston Park School is the product of a lively community endeavour led by local couple Brian and Betty Marsh. Their drive motivated contributions from across the community, culminating in the £750,000 project.
For almost twenty years, this pool has served as a haven for individuals with disabilities, offering vital therapy for thousands. Despite this, the facility’s future is under threat due to the rising energy costs, from £12,000 to £30,000 per year, coupled with a decline in donations.
Grimsby Live’s campaign to protect this community treasure is ongoing. Dive into our archives to experience the moving fundraising journey that brought the pool into existence. Your support could bring about significant change; think about donating to keep this essential service going.
