A Week of Living History, Nature Walks, and Poppies: Lincolnshire Springs to Life

Over the last week, Lincolnshire has truly sprung to life hosting a broad spectrum of events, ranging from immersive historical enactments to captivating nature walks and striking aerial footage. These offerings are a powerful reflection of our county’s profound culture, history and sense of community. The Lincoln Festival served as a temporal portal, transporting us back to the age of Romans, Vikings, and Victorians through markets and reenactments held at key landmarks such as Lincoln Castle and our famed cathedral. This offered a fun-filled, yet educative means for both residents and tourists to interact with our historical legacy. Furthermore, the architectural marvel close to Grantham, Harlaxton Manor, established in 1831, opened its expansive 300-acre property for a charming Bluebell Walk. This yearly event in May continually serves as a wonderful reminder of our surrounding natural beauty and the critical need to conserve it for upcoming generations. The International Bomber Command Centre presented a touching homage via their exhibition of over 20,000 ceramic poppies, depicted in breathtaking aerial footage, reminding us of the brave sacrifices of past wars and the ongoing spirit of resilience that encapsulates our society. In Stamford, the quaint town renowned for its poetry and the famous Poetry Stone at St Michael’s churchyard, the quest for the next literary talent commenced. Stamford continues to nurture creativity and intellectual inquisitiveness, further contributing to Lincolnshire’s robust cultural horizon. Spanning from Cleethorpes to Grantham, our county has vibrated with an array of dynamic happenings. As spring introduces a fresh season, we rejoice in the diverse and energising events that unite us as a community and fortify Lincolnshire as a truly splendid place to reside, work and enjoy recreational activities. Here’s to another week of engrossing events and shared experiences in our dear county.
