Blossoming Triumph: Spalding’s Spectacular Flower Parade Returns

Erika Yao, the reigning Flower Queen, headlined the vibrant Spalding Flower Parade as a symbol of community representation throughout the South Holland district for the coming year. This year, the parade featured a theme inspired by musicals, including a spectacular float built in homage to the 2018 film ‘A Star is Born’ featuring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Thousands of spectators turned out to enjoy the spectacle, which boasted a quarter of a million hand-picked tulips adorning the floats that proudly traversed the town. The resurgent event has now been hosted for the third consecutive year after its reintroduction in 2023, following a cessation that lasted over ten years. The parade, which began its journey in 1959, honours the ideally rich heritage of the flower-growing industry within the region.
