Animal Welfare Review Triggered by Shocking Piglet Abuse Footage

Cranswick, the largest pork supplier in the UK, has instigated an independent investigation into its animal welfare policies after damning footage surfaced depicting alleged abuse of piglets at Northmoor Farm in Lincolnshire. The Animal Justice Project gathered the harrowing footage which ostensibly presents workers engaging in illegal activities such as ‘piglet thumping’. Major retail giants Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco have put their contracts with the farm on hold. Adam Couch, Cranswick’s CEO, affirmed the company’s dedication to maintaining high welfare standards in all areas of its operations. Despite reporting a 6.8% revenue increase, largely attributable to high demand for luxury goods, Cranswick presently faces substantial scrutiny over its animal welfare practices. The Animal Justice Project has requested a full public inquiry into standards within pig farming.
