A Week Full of Excitement and Entertainment in Lincolnshire

In the past week, Lincolnshire has been a hub of entertainment and events, putting the spotlight on local talent and bringing the community together. From its picturesque beaches to its historic castle, the county was abuzz with activity, demonstrating why Lincolnshire is the destination of choice this summer.

The celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) at Cleethorpes beach marked the beginning of the week’s events. Students from East Marsh honoured this milestone occasion with a spirited musical performance, heralding the advent of a series of initiatives by East Marsh United. The students encapsulated the talent and commitment that the local community is proud to support.

Concurrently, Lincoln Castle became the stage for the 80s band The Human League. This concert, set against the backdrop of our castle, married our rich heritage with our vibrant culture, thrilling fans with an array of familiar hits.

Furthermore, the Lincolnshire Showground was alive with the sound of rock and roll during the Call Of The Wild Festival. This event added a robust flavour to the local entertainment milieu.

One highlight of the past week was the Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend. The event, which encompassed the commemoration of the national Armed Forces Day, attracted massive crowds. The much-awaited return of the Red Arrows exhibition proved a captivating sight, their aerial display serving as an apt tribute to our military personnel. Alongside this, the National Armed Forces Day Parade fueled excitement throughout Cleethorpes, as the town prepared for a day filled with celebration and thankfulness.

Adding a dash of glitz to the week, Skegness B&B was chosen as the filming locale for Jonathan Ross’s forthcoming Channel 4 show, ‘Handcuffed’. Coincidentally, film director Shane Meadows chose the streets of East Marsh as the location for his new comedy, ‘Chork’. Such high-profile attention was a testament to the allure of Lincolnshire.

In conclusion, the joyful atmosphere was underscored by the third Lincoln Music Festival. This free two-day event, along with the relocation of the Lincoln Live Music Festival to a new location, reinforces the flourishing music scene in the community. This week of celebrations and high-profile visits has served to place Lincolnshire squarely in the spotlight. Undoubtedly, more such energetic and exciting weeks are in the offing.
