Lincolnshire Family’s Beach BBQ Warning After Toddler Suffers Severe Burns

A Nettleham family is endorsing cautionary measures after their little child, Edison, sustained agonising burns from overheated sand at Anderby Creek beach, Lincolnshire. The unfortunate incident occurred when the family had a disposable barbecue on the beach without understanding the capacity of the sand to hold onto its heat for extensive hours afterwards. Subsequent to this, Edison had to receive treatment at The Queen’s Medical Centre situated in Nottingham, a process which necessitated the use of anaesthesia to enable the removal of sand from his feet. A local paediatrician by the name of Dr Abhishek Potturi who is based at Lincoln County Hospital, has sounded a warning against using disposable barbecues at beaches due to the attached burn risks involved. Additionally, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has marked disposable barbecues as a significant risk hazard, and has thus advised that caution be taken both in their utilisation and disposal.
