A recent paddleboarding event in Cleethorpes has reignited local interest in the sport. The event, arranged by SUP Lincs, attracted over 100 participants, aged between 8 to 70 years, who began their escapade from the RNLI Lifeboat Station and paddleboarded across the stunning coastlines between the pier and the leisure centre. SUP Lincs has been regularly hosting such monthly events for the past three years, aiming to unite people of all skills levels and promote physical health and social interaction. Chris Deakins, a resident of Grimsby and one of the event’s organising members, expressed his delight, labelling the event as the ‘most significant so far’.
The seafront was brimming with an active crowd, as paddleboards were aligned next to the RNLI premises, prepared for attendees of diverse ages. Deakins pointed out the adaptability of the sport, mentioning that depending on their comfort, participants could either kneel or stand. Safety is prioritised, ensuring favourable climate and manageable water depths, which was about 5 feet this time.
Attendees were provided with detailed safety guidance, and unity was maintained throughout the event to guarantee a safe and pleasant experience for everyone. The upcoming event is planned for the end of August, with locals invited to participate and establish new friendships while exploring the waters of Cleethorpes.
