Brace yourselves for a caffeine jolt, Lincolnshire! Fresh plans have been submitted, edging us closer to the long-anticipated opening of a drive-thru Starbucks in our very own Market Rasen. Last year, this brewing project received the green light alongside an Aldi supermarket set to sprout on the A46 Gallamore Lane, a major artery between Lincoln and Grimsby. Developer 23.5 Degrees Ltd has stoked the excitement, dropping plans for the Starbucks signage and a handy totem pointing caffeine addicts through the drive-thru. This development was given the go-ahead after property developer Morbaine got permission to bulldoze the current structures on the site, opposite the Market Rasen ambulance station. The proposal has stirred up quite a buzz among locals, with over 650 pairs of eyes poring over the plans. Opinions, however, are split. Some residents are keen on having a second supermarket to rival Tesco, while others are worried about the potential impact on the High Street. Local business owner Matthew Horsfield voiced concerns about diverting footfall from the High Street, which is already brimming with coffee shops and food retailers. Earlier plans for a supermarket and coffee shop in 2021 didn’t come to fruition. The nearest Starbucks to Market Rasen is a ten-mile trek to Caenby Corner, while Aldi requires a drive to Lincoln or Louth. The fate of the latest proposal lies in the hands of the West Lindsey District Council, with a decision due in the near future.
