In a historic move, Greater Lincolnshire has been presented with eight individual propositions, each outlining a unique reconfiguration for its council system. This comes as part of the most noteworthy local government overhaul in the last fifty years. The government recently extended an invitation to councils to submit provisional proposals by 21 March. This is in line with the devolution plan for the region, which foresees a consolidation of councils into larger unitary authorities by 2028. These larger councils are projected to bring about a whopping £2bn in national savings. Feedback on the proposals is anticipated by 28 April, with the final deadline for submissions set for 28 November.
