The ongoing refurbishment of Grimsby’s Grade II listed Corporation Road Bridge is set to shuffle pedestrian footpaths in its next phase. North East Lincolnshire Council has stated that grit blasting and painting works on Spans 5 and 6 of the bridge continue apace, with the northern footpath having been waterproofed and prepped for resurfacing. This will allow the location of works to shift to the opposite side. The switcheroo is expected to have kicked off this week. During this stage, pedestrians will be rerouted from the south to the north side of the bridge. A final touch of footpath treatment will be added as the works progress. To exploit predicted low tide levels, weekend working hours will extend into next month. For the safety of both the public and site workers, footpath closures will be necessary when work is carried out near public areas. Depending on conditions, the footpath may be closed one or two days a week to expedite the remaining sections of the work. Footpath closures will occur between 9am and 4pm on weekdays, with the footpath remaining open on designated weekend working dates. Temporary signage will be put in place for these closures. North East Lincolnshire Council, along with its delivery partner Equans and contractor the Spencer Group, extend their gratitude to the public for their patience during this period. They urge the public to respect the enforced access restrictions for safety reasons and to stay clear of all encapsulated and other working areas.
