The Lincolnshire Police force has emerged as the fastest fingered bunch in the UK, answering 999 calls in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it average of 4.65 seconds. According to a recent analysis by Injury Claims, our local bobbies answered a staggering 107,509 calls last year, with nearly 95% of these sorted in under a tenner. These figures put our force miles ahead of our neighbours in Nottinghamshire, where the average response time ambles around 7.92 seconds. Leicestershire and South Yorkshire forces also lag behind, with averages of 7.47 and 7.5 seconds respectively. Superintendent Nic Templeman, the steady hand guiding the Lincolnshire Police control room, attributes the impressive performance to the ‘tireless dedication and teamwork’ of the FCR team, aided by ‘exceptional supervisors’. On the other end of the spectrum, Durham Constabulary, Wiltshire Police, and Staffordshire Police were flagged as the slowest responders, with average response times all over 12.5 seconds. A spokesperson for InjuryClaims.co.uk emphasised the importance of rapid response times in emergency situations, suggesting that slower forces may need to look at additional funding or operational support to improve their response times. After all, when it comes to emergencies, every tick of the clock counts!
