Early risers on Saturday, March 29, got more than they bargained for, as 5:30 am saw the quiet town of Long Sutton interrupted by a brazen robbery. Staff at the cosy Gedneys Newsagents on Market Place were confronted by a man brandishing a knife and demanding cash and cigarettes. The thief, clad in a black face mask, a black hooded jacket, and grey two-tone trousers, made a swift exit, heading towards West Street. Lincolnshire Police have released CCTV footage of the incident, appealing to the public to help identify the culprit. The footage, a brief nine-second clip, shows the man approaching the counter. The force’s appeal reads: ‘We believe someone will recognise the trousers and the stature of the person.’ If you have any information or recognise the man in the video, please reach out to the investigating officer at matt.wharton@lincs.police.uk and reference incident 71 of March 29, 2025.
