A golden opportunity has arisen to construct 76 new homes along with a commercial area at the erstwhile Birds Eye Foods factory site in Grimsby. Watling Real Estate, based in Leeds, is currently welcoming offers for Phase 3 of the Clee Field View project, located on Ladysmith Road, a mere two miles from the heart of Grimsby. This 2.52-acre site, nestled near Cleethorpes, has received planning permission for the construction of 51 houses, 25 apartments, and three commercial spaces. The site, once home to the renowned Birds Eye Foods factory, has a rich history, having produced countless fish fingers for the nation before its closure in 2005. The factory was severely damaged by a massive fire in 2007 and was later levelled to pave the way for a residential and care home scheme. Phase 1 has already seen 49 homes built and sold, while Phase 2 is partially complete with an additional 50 homes. Phase 4, comprising a 70-bed care home and eight apartments, is currently underway. The site, offering excellent access to public transport and local amenities including schools, is now all set to launch Phase 3. The project, subject to planning permission, may also entertain alternative uses.
