Mayoral Race Heat Up in Greater Lincolnshire: Spotlight on Conservative Contender Rob Waltham

As the inaugural mayoral election for the newly formed Greater Lincolnshire authority draws near on 1 May, Conservative candidate Rob Waltham, aged 52 and current leader of North Lincolnshire Council, is making his intentions clear. Living in Brigg, Waltham views the new Mayoral position as an opportunity to amplify Greater Lincolnshire’s influence and control. ‘A change in leadership can mean improved infrastructure, more efficient public transport, and a surge of quality employment opportunities for local residents,’ Waltham states. The Conservative hopeful promises to secure necessary funding for enhancing crucial transportation routes such as the A46, A15, A16, and A17 resulting in safer, more convenient travel across Lincolnshire. Waltham is committed to attracting new businesses and investments to the area, thereby creating more local, quality jobs. He also pledges his support to protect local industries like British Steel, ensuring job security and economic stability. ‘Let’s keep Lincolnshire the home of British Steel,’ he said. Waltham also promises to resist Labour’s plans for excessive pylons and solar farms, which he believes pose a threat to our food security. Committed to easing the cost of living, Waltham guarantees no new taxes, unlike other areas under Labour leadership where new mayoral taxes have been introduced. He concluded his address by saying, ‘Together, we can shape local services for the next four years with record investment.’
