In the aftermath of a shocking loss, a family from Lincolnshire are transforming their sorrow into a powerful initiative to avoid future road casualties. Courtney Davies, a vibrant, 24-year-old events organiser, tragically died in a crash on the A15 near Caenby Corner in December 2020. Her family now aim to pay tribute to her through a moving road safety video, created in conjunction with Lincolnshire Police and the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership. Courtney’s mother, Ginny, and sister, Emma, recall her as a source of joy and laughter. They believe this video will highlight the critical nature of road safety to motorists throughout the county. Courtney, a resident of Toynton All Saints and passionate Disney enthusiast, had previously worked at Walt Disney World in Florida. Her family’s heart-wrenching memories of the fatal night play a major role in the video, aiming to remind drivers of the genuine, human toll of road accidents. The video, entitled ‘Receiving the Message’, is a six-minute appeal for drivers to respect their safety and that of others. Gina, mother of Courtney, voices the family’s resolve to preserve her memory and to shield other families from experiencing such an agonising ordeal. Simon Outen-Coe, from the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, who has been closely supporting the family, emphasises the significance of this message. He reveals that 53 lives were tragically lost on Lincolnshire roads in a recent year, which represented a slight increase on previous years, underlining the urgency of the family’s campaign.
