Heartbreak and Anguish: Lincolnshire Pet Owners Share Disconcerting Experiences with Local Veterinary Practice

Following the removal of a Lincolnshire vet from the UK register of practising surgeons and nurses, former customers are sharing disconcerting encounters with the same clinic. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) disqualified Ms Emma Bowler last month due to numerous instances of professional misconduct, including providing inadequate care to many animals and instances of dishonest and misleading conduct over a four-year period.

Among the many heart-wrenching stories shared on social media, Julie Smith, a resident of Bracebridge Heath, recounted her distressing experience when she lost her 14-year-old dog, Ben. Julie’s request to have Ben stored properly until she could arrange for him to be interred with his brother was allegedly mishandled, leading her to discover his decomposed body, which she described as ‘disgusting’. The vet clinic, however, claimed to have addressed her complaints.

Another owner, Carl Tyrrell, shared his frustration over the treatment of his eight-month-old kitten Luna, who had to have her leg amputated following a poorly executed surgery and subsequent infection. According to the clinic, Luna’s initial recovery was good, and subsequent complications were addressed promptly. Yet, Luna’s owners maintain that their concerns were not adequately handled.

A third pet owner, preferring to remain anonymous, expressed her disappointment over the treatment of her rescue cat Gracie, who experienced complications following a spaying procedure at the same clinic. Rase Vets have not commented on this case.

These disheartening experiences underline the importance of trust and transparency in veterinary care. It also serves as a reminder of the immense emotional toll that pet owners endure when their beloved companions are not treated with the care and respect they deserve.
