Following the recent banning of one of their former vets, Rase Veterinary Centre has moved quickly to offer assurances to its clients. Emma Bowler was struck off the veterinary register by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) after a disciplinary hearing found her guilty of numerous clinical failings over a near four-year span. Rase Vets, a significant employer in Lincolnshire with more than 200 employees across 18 locations, initially remained silent post-hearing but has since addressed the issue in response to social media concerns. The firm argues that the reality has been exaggerated by a Facebook group. ‘While we acknowledge that mistakes were made, as is the case in any veterinary practice, we’ve implemented new safeguarding procedures,’ said Karen Dando, Head of HR at Rase Vets. ‘However, the social media comments have crossed a line, prompting us to respond.’ The vet centre noted that a number of its clients have been sharing positive stories about their experiences, with many sending cards and flowers as gestures of support. Ms Dando added that Bowler, who performed thousands of operations at Rase Vets without issue, was always dedicated to her work. The practice also highlighted its hospital accreditation, which was achieved after Bowler’s departure, and its ongoing collaborations with local charities, zoos, and a veterinary nursing college. Rase Vets operates 14 sites and four hospital-accredited locations, including sites in Market Rasen, Lincoln, Ashby and Scunthorpe, with a vast range of facilities and services.
