Barrie Hall, an 82-year-old man from St Andrew’s Gardens, Lincoln, has pleaded guilty to numerous sexual offences against three schoolgirls spanning over four decades. The declaration of guilt was made at Lincoln Crown Court where Hall faced nine charges encompassing rape and sexual assault. These horrific offences took place from September 1982 up until recent years.
The court indicated that a substantial prison sentence is likely for Hall, but has allowed him time to sort out his financial affairs before sentencing, scheduled for 16 May at the same court. Hall’s admitted crimes include the rape of a girl under 16, four instances of indecent assault aimed at the same victim, and one act of gross indecency. These activities occurred between September 1982 and October 1990.
Hall has also confessed to the sexual assault of two girls under 13. These assaults transpired from June 2014 to June 2018 and resumed from September 2018 onward. Defence counsel, Anna Soubry, asked for bail for Hall to facilitate him in arranging his finances ahead of his certain imprisonment. Soubry commented, ‘He knows at his age there is every chance he will never be released from prison.’
