Grimsby’s Fierce Elites Jet Off to World Cheerleading Championships in USA

A formidable troupe of cheerleaders from Grimsby is set to make history as they prepare to represent their hometown at the prestigious World Championships in the USA. Fierce Elite Cheerleading, stationed on King Edward Street, will be whisking their talented team across the pond to the Allstar World Championships in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, April 12. The squad is comprised of 29 local lasses, whose ages range from 11 to 17 years old. Erin Fierce, the 38-year-old director of Fierce Cheerleading, has described this as a ‘monumental moment’ for the team. After years of hard graft and numerous championship wins, they secured their golden ticket to the world stage last May. Despite hailing from a town that has its fair share of stereotypes and faces economic challenges, these young women have shown that determination and teamwork can overcome any obstacle. This will be the first team Erin has taken from the UK to the World Championships, having previously coached a New Zealand team. The girls are set to perform one last time at a heartfelt send-off celebration in their gym on Thursday, April 10, before they depart for training in the USA. This achievement serves as a beacon of hope to younger members, showing them that regardless of where they’re born, they can reach their dreams with hard work and perseverance.
