Ford Mustang aficionados from North East Lincolnshire are revving their engines for a worthy cause — raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer. The petrolheads from Grimsby and neighbouring areas will embark on a journey from Haverstoe Park in Cleethorpes to Lincoln this coming Saturday, April 12. Their mission? To carry a flag bedecked with signatures from Simply Mustangs UK members across the country in a relay-style drive. The journey began in Northern Ireland on March 16 and will culminate in Cornwall on May 17, where the flag will be handed over to a Mustangs member battling prostate cancer — the driving force behind this fundraising initiative. Jason Curnock, founder of Simply Mustangs UK, was moved to action after a close friend and early group member was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer. Curnock shared how the diagnosis came as a shock, prompting the group to not only get tested but to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The fundraising effort is still ongoing on Just Giving, with £8,643 already raised towards their £10,000 goal. All funds will be directed to Prostate Cancer UK.
