Nunsthorpe Estate’s Spring Clean Hailed as Monumental Triumph

The recent spring clean of Grimsby’s Nunsthorpe estate has been hailed as a triumphant success, with residents clamouring for another. An impressive 17 tonnes of waste were collected as locals seized the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items and rubbish ahead of the big clean-up, designed to counteract fly-tipping. The skip sites, available between 10am and 2pm, were a flurry of activity as neighbours carted in loads of waste. One Shelley Avenue resident praised the initiative, saying it had gone well and that the area looked significantly tidier as a result. The sentiment was echoed by another neighbour, who highlighted the impact of the clean-up on the primary school area and expressed hope for the initiative’s continuation. Residents praised the community-building aspect of the event, with many suggesting it should become a regular occurrence. Helen Bell, Neighbourhood Team Leader at Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, highlighted the individualised approach they are taking to improving communities, with Neighbourhood Action Plans being set up in 11 different areas. The successful clean-up day saw various items recycled and repurposed, and a strong sense of community spirit pervaded the neighbourhood. The Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, in collaboration with North East Lincolnshire Council, will host a Family Fun Day on April 16 at Sutherland Park, Victor Street on Grimsby’s East Marsh, as they continue to foster community spirit.
