This Sunday, the streets of Boston will be awash with over 2,000 marathon participants, ready to take on the country’s most level 26-mile (42km) race. The marathon will kick off from Market Place at 08:00 BST, leading runners through a picturesque route of narrow country lanes and charming villages, with the finish line set at Boston College. The event will also feature half marathon and 5K and 10K races. Organisers are encouraging spectators to gather at six key points along the route, including Butterwick, Bennington, Leverton, Wrangle, and Fishtoft, to cheer on the runners. They have advised spectators to park on approach roads branching off the A52, due to the marathon route being inaccessible. The half marathon will commence at 08:30, followed by the 10K race at 08:15 in Central Park, and the 5K at 08:45. Event director Kay Bonnell, who has been arranging the event for nine months, expressed her thrill towards the upcoming marathon and keenly anticipates the sight of runners crossing the finish line. The event hosts participants from all corners of the UK and abroad, many of whom aim to set qualifying times for other marathons. Please note, Market Place will have restricted access between 07:00 and 10:00 during the marathon start, and speed restrictions will be in place throughout the course. This year’s chosen charity is the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service.
