Hot Water Horror: Scuffle over Bicycle Ends in Severe Scalding for Local Woman

In a shocking turn of events, a seemingly petty squabble over a bicycle spiralled out of control, resulting in a woman suffering severe burns from a toppled kettle of boiling water. Eloise Stoakes, a 38-year-old resident of Cleethorpes, admitted to causing harm to the woman amidst a heated argument on 25th July last year, whilst denying the intent to wound her. The incident took place in Grimsby Road when Stoakes, who was temporarily residing with the victim and her partner, pushed her friend in a fit of anger over the refusal to lend her bicycle, causing the kettle to overturn. The victim was rushed to hospital with deep scald burns covering 10% of her body, primarily on her back and arms. However, despite the severity of the burns, no skin grafts were required. Stoakes, having previous convictions including assault on police and shop theft, received a nine-month suspended prison sentence, a six-month drug rehabilitation and 15 days’ rehabilitation. Stoakes claims to be sober for over six months and is aspiring for a fresh start away from Grimsby, expressing a desire to pursue a course in hairdressing.
