In an impressive display of vigilance, an off-duty police officer apprehended a man following an erratic car chase that culminated in a crash in New Waltham. The incident occurred around 9pm on Monday, April 14, when a BMW collided with another vehicle on Cardiff Avenue. Miraculously, no injuries were reported from the accident. The off-duty officer, showcasing swift initiative, requested the BMW driver to take a roadside drug test. A 24-year-old man was subsequently arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of substances believed to be class A drugs. Further inspection revealed the driver to be uninsured. The man now faces additional allegations of possession of class A drugs and driving without insurance. He has since been released but a further investigation is in progress. Humberside Police continues to urge the public to report any instances of dangerous driving or road traffic offenses by calling their non-emergency number 101, or 999 in case of emergencies.
