High-Speed Pursuit Leads to £130,000 Drug Bust on A1

A fast-paced pursuit on the A1 assisted the Lincolnshire Police in uncovering drugs of significant value, amounting to more than £130,000. The chase was instigated when Amir Zaman was noted driving his Skoda Superb at speeds surpassing 100 mph near Coddington, located near the boundary of Lincolnshire. Zaman was then halted, following which he tried giving the officers false information. However, further verification of his fingerprints revealed that Zaman was prohibited from driving until March 2025.

The vehicle was then thoroughly inspected, leading to the discovery of a bag of heroin concealed under the driver’s seat and an eight-inch kitchen knife stashed in the door pocket. The heroin discovered has an approximate street value of £130,000.

Zaman, who is 35 years old and resides at Primrose View, Sheffield, was subsequently arrested and faced multiple charges. These charges consisted of possession of class A drugs with the intention to supply, disqualified driving, possession of a knife, and driving without insurance. Following his admission of the charges, he was sentenced to a prison term of six years at the Lincoln Crown Court. Along with this, he received an additional driving disqualification stretching over five years.
