Students at Cleethorpes Academy have showcased remarkable generosity by donating over 2,000 Easter eggs to local charities and organisations. The initiative, part of the school’s ‘Golden Egg Week’, aimed to spark excitement and foster a sense of giving within the academy. The children’s ward at Grimsby Hospital, Women’s Aid, Lindsey Hall Care Home, and The Rock Foundation were grateful recipients of the donated treats.
Principal Paul Thundercliffe highlighted the week’s focus on recognition and rewards, with students engaging in challenges for a chance to win a star prize. The event also included assemblies where students were honoured with subject awards, and accolades were given for exemplary attendance and behaviour.
The culmination of the term saw students arriving in non-uniform attire, conditional on donating a chocolate egg for the hospital’s children’s ward. The community’s response was overwhelming, with one Year 11 class alone contributing over 300 eggs.
Due to the abundance of donations, additional eggs were shared with local charities, further extending the students’ generous reach. Principal Thundercliffe expressed immense pride in the academy’s nurturing of a strong community spirit, bolstered by a positive Ofsted report.
Donna Clarke from Lindsey Hall expressed deep gratitude, stating, ‘We are so grateful for your most generous donations for our residents. They are all overwhelmed. Many, many thanks to all at Cleethorpes Academy.’
