Daniel’s Kitchen Aims to Transform Louth with New Community Hub

Daniel’s Kitchen, a food bank and social venture established in Louth in 2001, is planning an ambitious relocation to increase its community influence. The group, currently based in The Priory Hotel, is applying to East Lindsey District Council for planning permission to convert an industrial unit on the Fairfield Industrial Estate into a flourishing community hub. The planned hub aims to tackle food scarcity, social loneliness, and financial hardship by delivering a variety of services. These encompass transforming supermarket surplus into cost-effective meals, supplying fresh food packages, providing free meals to those who are unable to cook for themselves, and distributing food packets to families dealing with emergencies. Supportive services such as mentoring and counselling will be on offer to boost individual progress, complemented by community events aimed at reducing social isolation and promoting local talent. With the lease at The Priory set to end in June 2025, and the current landlords not sharing their philanthropic vision, Daniel’s Kitchen views the Fairfield location as an ideal platform for expansion. The proposed hub intends to blend community and commercial pursuits, to bolster, rather than compete with, local enterprises. If the proposal is approved, the new site would be open daily from 7am to 7pm, with extended hours for special occasions, presenting a socially sensitive, self-supporting model to boost Louth’s food provision and economic prosperity.
