Amy, a survivor of abuse, has been granted significant compensation following suffering sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by her support worker at a children’s home in south Lincolnshire. Andrew Geeson, the individual responsible for the abuse, admitted his guilt starting from 2019 when Amy was only 15 years old. Given the responsibility of protecting vulnerable children, Geeson, instead, misused his authority, and despite concerns being raised, he remained Amy’s care worker. His actions resulted in a prison term exceeding five years, imposed by Lincoln Crown Court in 2023.
Subsequent to the criminal proceedings, Amy instigated a civil claim against Keys Care Limited, the company running the home. The claim resulted in a settlement for damages to compensate for her pain and suffering, disruption to her education, therapeutic needs, and lost wages. The company has since expressed its regret for the damage inflicted.
Amy’s lawyer, Dino Nocivelli from Leigh Day, highlighted Geeson’s flagrant violation of trust and expressed his pleasure about acquiring the settlement to enable Amy towards her path to recovery.
