Kelsey Norbury, a 43-year-old mother from Louth, has achieved outstanding success with Diverse Skincare Formulations, an innovative skincare range designed specifically for neurodivergent individuals. Norbury, who has personal experience with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia — conditions which also affect her children — left school at 16 with no qualifications. However, she later pursued further education and, in time, obtained a Nursing degree before setting up her own aesthetics clinic. The Covid-19 pandemic saw her launch this new business endeavour.
Committed to reshaping skincare for individuals like herself, Norbury brought to market a line of products incorporating features such as twist-top bottles and paper labels with QR codes. This design approach addressed sensory issues and dyslexia. Her daughter, also possessing sensory sensitivities, played a key part in testing the products to ensure they met precise requirements.
Despite her own early academic challenges resulting from undiagnosed dyslexia, Norbury didn’t seek a formal diagnosis for autism or ADHD due to long NHS waiting times. Instead, she embraced her identity and used her personal experiences to enrich her business.
Through her brand, Norbury promotes mental wellbeing and self-care. Her clients are encouraged to incorporate skincare routines into their daily lives. Norbury’s approach highlights the significance of a healthy lifestyle and supports simplicity and effectiveness in skincare routines. This approach caters to everyone but holds particular relevance to neurodivergent individuals.
