Sleaford Knifepoint Robber Jailed After Brazen Attack

A man labelled as ‘careless’ has been penalised after perpetrating a brazen knifepoint burglary in Sleaford. Jordan Ansell, 30, engaged with his casualty after the man had taken out £80 from a cash machine during the early hours of June 29, 2024. Ansell, recognizably notorious for brandishing a knife publicly, engaged in a dialogue before spiralling into aggression and assaulting his victim, resulting in broken glasses. The incident unfolded at Moneys Yard, with Ansell resorting to intimidation and brandishing a knife, threatening harm. This reckless act was caught on CCTV, underscoring his dangerous propensity. Just a few days prior, on June 18, an off-duty officer reported seeing Ansell brandishing a knife during a disagreement. This earlier episode played a crucial role in the case against him, culminating in a 12-month sentence for causing a public nuisance and a simultaneous five-month sentence for the weapons offence. Laura Leveridge, 34, his significant other, was handed a suspended sentence for the provision of a misleading alibi. Detective Constable Jim Thompson, leading the investigation, stressed on the situation that could have escalated to grievous harm, while acknowledging the luck in averting more serious injuries.
