A treasured model of the steelworks in Scunthorpe, which has lain stored for in excess of 30 years, is teetering on the edge of rejuvenation as its custodians look for someone to instil fresh vitality into this elaborate portion of history. The model was created by Eric Smith, previously an employee of Clugston Distribution Services, a company with its beginnings rooted in the year 1922. The craftmanship represents a forgotten epoch of the industrial landscape of North Lincolnshire. Constructed around 60 to 70 years ago, the model displayed dynamic features such as a shunting locomotive that functioned, a busy road adorned with cars, and buildings that lit up. Currently, the organisation is actively searching for skilled model makers to return it to its prime state. The CEO, Alistair Clugston, holds strong aspirations to witness the model’s restoration, thereby ensuring it continues to be a tribute to the steelworks for forthcoming generations.
