New statistics show a notable increase in personal thefts throughout Lincolnshire and Humberside, with incidents rising by more than 20% in each region. The latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) indicates that Lincolnshire saw 205 personal thefts last year, signifying a 26% increase from 2023. Simultaneously, Humberside experienced a 22% increase with 539 recorded cases. This rise differs from the overall crime patterns as both Humberside Police and Lincolnshire saw decreases in total crime, 7% and 1% respectively. Despite the rise in thefts, Deputy Chief Constable Dave Marshall of Humberside Police emphasised the force’s significant efforts in lowering crime rates.
