Lincoln Pride’s Urgent Call: £50k Needed to Save Festival

The team behind Lincoln Pride have recently launched an urgent fundraising campaign with a goal of collecting £50,000 to secure the event’s future. This well-loved LGBT+ festival, typically taking place each August at the Tentercroft Street car park in Lincoln, attracted over 8,000 attendees just last year. However, 2022 casts a shadow of uncertainty over the festival, as traditional sponsorships have seen a sharp decline. The organiser, Aaron Hart, underscored the urgency of the matter, focusing attention on rising expenses and decreasing funds. “This is our last-ditch effort,” he shared, adding that within a 24-hour window, the event’s fundraiser managed to raise over £2,000. This sum included a notable anonymous donation of £1,000. Rising costs for essential items such as portable toilets and security have massively increased, adding significant strain. Supporters are encouraged to make their donations through the festival’s official website. Hart discussed the evolution of Lincoln Pride from a humble gathering of 500 to an event of substantial magnitude. He also emphasised the growing importance of Pride festivals, especially in light of recent challenges to transgender rights. “We need Pride more than ever”, he confessed. “We remain hopeful and committed to giving Lincoln something festive to look forward to, even if it means we have to adjust our initial plans.”
