Stamford Set to Crown New Literary Voice

This week, the picturesque market town of Stamford in Lincolnshire is preparing to announce its new poet laureate as ten accomplished candidates gear up to compete for the esteemed title. The finalists are set to demonstrate their literary abilities through exceptional readings at the inclusive monthly event Pint of Poetry, taking place at the Gallery Bar within Stamford Arts Centre. The function is slated to commence at 19:30 BST on Wednesday.

Famed for its dynamic poetry scene, Stamford is also home to the reputable Poetry Stone positioned at St Michael’s churchyard. This beloved local spot welcomes the public to share their lyrical creativity openly.

The assessment panel, composed of the current Stamford laureate Caroline Avnit and other respected judges, anxiously await the appointment of a deserving successor, according to Arts Programme Officer for South Kesteven District Council, Karen Burrows.
