Grimsby Hosts Wellness Day to Boost Community Spirit

Title: Grimsby’s Wellness Day Aims to Enhance Community Spirit

Grimsby gears up to host a lively community wellness day this coming Saturday, instigated by mental health and public safety issues identified earlier this year. Local councillors, the public health team of North East Lincolnshire Council, and the East Marsh Involve community group have collaborated to stage the event at Freeman Street Market. Scheduled from 10:00 to 15:00 BST, the day offers a variety of family-friendly activities engineered to stimulate creativity and promote well-being. Activities encompass arts and crafts, providing children an opportunity to create a ‘breathing buddy’, a fun tool for managing anxiety, as well as a competition to design posters emphasising the importance of environmental responsibility. Diverse local organisations will also be present to offer guidance and support.

Councillor Nicola Aisthorpe underlined the people-centric aspect of the day, noting, “This day has evolved from and for the East Marsh community. We aim to create an environment where individuals feel acknowledged, recognised, and valued, fostering closer connections between valuable community services and residents, making support more accessible and nurturing local networks.”

Lindsay Hudson, a representative from the public health team, further added, “Lead by a clear understanding of the profound role played by connection, creativity, and community spirit in promoting wellness, this event converges these values in an accessible and joyful setting.”
