A host of events will soon occur across North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire with the aim of fostering open conversations about death, dying, and grief. These events, scheduled to run from 5 to 11 May as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, seek to shatter the silence on a topic often considered taboo. Attendees will be given the chance to interact with experts from various fields such as hospitals, hospices, charities, law firms, and the funeral industry. Alison Redhead, the chair of the Dying Matters group in North Lincolnshire, emphasises the necessity of these dialogues. She stresses that “Honest and timely discussions about death and dying are vital as they can help ensure that individuals’ end-of-life wishes are honoured and carried out to meet their distinct needs.”
