East Lindsey District Council and Boston Borough Council have approved the acquisition of 41 innovative refuse collection vehicles. These new lorries, designed to optimise waste collection, are soon to be introduced to the streets of Lincolnshire. They’re equipped with specialised ‘pods’ that can concurrently collect recycling, general rubbish, and food waste. This initiative has been introduced in response to the incoming legal requirement for councils to organise a weekly food waste collection by April 2026. East Lindsey is set to implement 27 of these vehicles, whilst Boston plans to supplement their fleet with 14 more. This marks a considerable advancement towards achieving more efficient and eco-conscious waste management systems.
