The family of Josephine Chatterton, who was from Cleethorpes and sadly passed away from a previously undetected heart condition at just 24 years old in 1999, is seeking to raise £6,800. Their goal is to provide heart screenings for young individuals in North East Lincolnshire. The campaign, dedicated to the memory of Josephine, is designed to screen 100 people in a single day, in a bid to prevent families from experiencing the same devastating loss. Josephine, a gifted music graduate from Huddersfield University, succumbed suddenly after collapsing in a supermarket. Her mother, Monica Chatterton, harbours a hope that the screenings could help prevent the painful loss of a young family member for others. The initiative has attracted support from the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), which emphasises that each week in the UK, 12 youths die from undetected heart conditions. The family has initiated a Just Giving page to facilitate fundraising, and intends to host the screening event at Grimsby Leisure’s Health and Wellbeing Centre. The exact date of the event is yet to be confirmed.
