Lincolnshire Police Under Fire for ‘Inadequate’ Crime Response

The Lincolnshire police force have found themselves under scrutiny, after receiving a rating of ‘inadequate’ in vital sectors. These include crime investigation, public response and offender management, according to the assessment by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services. This report outlined ‘severe concerns’ with the force’s leadership and management, focusing on the slow response times to emergency calls, along with a lack of support for victims – both identified as vital issues that require immediate attention. Chief Constable Paul Gibson is aware of the report’s findings and has declared that, despite progress being made, there is still a significant amount of work to do. The report has uncovered problems such as the lack of allocation of trained officers for necessary investigations, and notable racial disparities in stop-and-search practices. The report also criticised the force for its financial inefficiencies. Despite these hurdles, Chief Constable Gibson has reassured us that measures are in place to improve response times and victim assessments, and some progress is already evident.
