Princess Anne to Grace Landmark Lincolnshire Show

Princess Anne is due to attend the 140th Lincolnshire Show next month, a highly noteworthy occurrence for this valued local event. Around 60,000 visitors are expected over two days near Lincoln. The show is recognised for its livestock and equine competitions. Princess Anne, who was once president of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, will attend the event on 18 June. Charlotte Powell, the chief executive of the society, has commented on how this year’s event commemorates its extensive history, which began in 1869.

TV presenter Matt Baker, known for his role on the BBC’s Countryfile, will also appear on 19 June. For the first time, attendees will be entertained by an amateur jousting display by The Knights of Middle England, involving a cast of stunt riders and actors. A recent feature of the event, the Rural Voices Stage, will captivate audiences with thoughtful panel discussions.

The beach at the beloved Lincolnshire Show, which made its debut last year, will return, with 60 tonnes of sand shipped in from the local coast. Powell expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event, emphasising the show’s function in promoting local produce and businesses and its diverse range of family-oriented attractions. This year, the event will boast over 500 exhibitors and approximately 2,500 animals, underlining the show as a cornerstone of community celebration.
