The cherished Scott’s Bridge situated on Melville Street in Lincoln has been demolished, thus clearing the path for the construction of a new residential and hotel complex. This transformation forms part of a broader redevelopment plan for the former City Square shopping centre site, led by the Lincolnshire Co-op. Scott’s Bridge, which offered impressive views of Lincoln Cathedral, had become a popular location for local photographers and was considered an iconic local landmark. Earlier this month, members of the Dunholme Camera Club visited the bridge in order to capture its final moments. Graham Halliday recognised the bridge’s iconic status and its value as a vantage point for the cathedral’s skyline which cannot be replaced. It is currently understood that the Co-op is engaged in advanced discussions with an international hotel operator, and numerous residential developers are expressing eager interest to revitalise the area.
