Lincoln Leisure Centres Set to Reopen Under New Management

Two focal leisure sites in Lincoln, Yarborough and Birchwood, are poised for reopening in middle of July, following a sudden shutdown last April. The City of Lincoln Council has chosen Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) to act as an interim operator for this duo of locations over the next two years. GLL, a charitable organisation that undertakes social enterprise, is currently at the helm of over 250 leisure centres across the UK, with North Kesteven included in its portfolio. The council’s spearhead, Naomi Tweddle, conveyed her approval of this particular appointment, accentuating GLL’s wealth of competence in handling such facilities. Tweddle was full of praise for Lincoln City Foundation for their expedient management of outdoor services at both centres in the wake of the closures. A representative from GLL, Chris Hebblewhite, confirmed that work is underway to initiate a safe and speedy reopening of the centres – plans that include revamping gym apparatus and refining the facilities’ aesthetics. The centres were initially closed when Active Nation ceased operations due to a utilities crisis.
