Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire Advocates for Transport Investment in Meeting with PM

Dame Andrea Jenkyns, the mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, engaged in a productive conversation with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, discussing the vital need for investment in the region’s transport and infrastructure. The meeting took place at Lancaster House in London, where Dame Andrea underscored the importance of enhancing primary routes like the A15, A52, and A17. There was also emphasis on the integration of multiple transport methods such as buses, trains, and cars.

Discussions extended to supporting the local agri-food sector, upskilling the workforce, and assisting often disregarded coastal communities. Sir Keir assured that recently acquired international trade deals would benefit Lincolnshire’s industries, including the farming and steel sectors. The recent lifting of US tariffs on British steel holds significant potential for Scunthorpe, while a new agreement with the EU stands to alleviate export challenges for the county’s agricultural community.

In addition, Dame Andrea suggested establishing a trades college in Lincolnshire. This would meet the demand for skills in plumbing, building, and other key areas.
