It’s been a truly bustling week for our dynamic Lincoln community! Lincolnshire has been filled with exciting events worth writing about, from the upcoming spectacle of Circus Extreme’s enthralling ‘Rock It Out’ show this June to the intriguing venue change for the eagerly anticipated 43rd Lincoln Beer Festival, now being hosted at the more intimate setting, Southside.
The week commenced with our local entertainment taking centre stage. Fascinating documentaries and celebrity-laden series dominated the scene, with a compelling mixture of terrestrial and digital platforms ensuring our televisions were in constant use. In particular, the tumultuous journey through Shia LeBeouf’s theatrical experiences was laid bare in a controversial documentary screened at the distinguished Cannes festival. From Wes Anderson’s newest creation to Jennifer Lawrence’s exploration of feminine anger, film critics have certainly whet our appetites for upcoming releases.
Eurovision fever also permeated throughout Lincolnshire, with standout moments including the music, royalty, and science exploration within Gainsborough’s ‘Laybo’s Fest’. This unique event achieved a remarkable balance between delivering entertaining music and providing a vital discussion on suicide prevention, emphasising the centrality of community support and mental health awareness.
And of course, we cannot neglect to mention the Lincoln Beer Festival. Now in its 43rd year, the event has been relocated to Southside, a repurposed former place of worship on Colegrave Street. The switch in location is a true testament to the adaptive and resilient spirit of Lincoln in response to evolving beverage consumption trends.
As we eagerly await the momentum of Circus Extreme’s ‘Rock It Out’ show, let’s reflect upon a week of varied community activities in Lincolnshire. The exhilaration of the circus, the buzz of the beer festival, the lure of primetime television, and the powerful communications from ‘Laybo’s Fest’ – Lincolnshire continues to demonstrate once again that it’s a vibrant hotbed of enjoyment, amusement and deeply ingrained community spirit.
