Lincoln Woman’s Remarkable Weight Loss Inspires New Slimming Club

Jasmin Hyde, a Lincoln local, has achieved a remarkable shift in her life by losing over 12 stone (76kg) within a span of a year, without adopting any weight-loss drugs. She is now focused on leveraging her experience to benefit others through the initiation of a new slimming club. Jasmin, who was 30 when she began her transformation, was previously weighing around 22 stone (139kg). Last April, she decided to adopt a healthier lifestyle, which resulted in a substantial weight loss of 12 stone and 9lbs (about 80kg). Her weight loss strategy was centred around a diet rich in fresh food and a more physically active lifestyle. Jasmin stated, “There were certainly challenging phases, but the unwavering support I received provided the necessary motivation.”

Her significant weight loss journey was primarily motivated by a condition she was diagnosed with, called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This reproductive health condition could have hampered her dreams of becoming a mother, unless she attained a healthier body mass index (BMI). She shared her sense of urgency with BBC Radio Lincolnshire, stating, “I realised the need to take immediate action as I was about to turn thirty and was dealing with these health issues.”

Prior to her impressive weight loss, Jasmin, a professional head chef, tended to remain indoors and refrain from looking into mirrors. She confessed, “I would usually keep to myself.” Currently, she steps out with an enhanced confidence, cherishing day-to-day activities like dressing up and shopping. Embracing a transformed lifestyle has also encouraged her to resume her passion for horse riding and engage in community events such as Race for Life.

With an aim to inspire and assist others, Jasmin has set up a Slimming World group at Moorland Park Methodist Church in Lincoln. 24th June marked the first session of this group. She said, “If I can assist even just one person, it would make everything worthwhile.”
