Councillors of North Lincolnshire have steadfastly opposed the UK government’s proposal to develop ‘super councils’ in the county. The proposal, which aimed to diminish the quantity of councils by introducing single-tier unitary authorities throughout Lincolnshire, hasn’t been popular locally. The stance of the North Lincolnshire Council has been stated by Council Leader Rob Waltham, subsequent to consultations with local parish councils, residents, and businesses. All of these consulted parties have generally shown minimal support for a larger government body to supervise the region. Mr Waltham has professed his intention to convey the council’s viewpoint to the government.
