A Week of Wonders: Lincolnshire Embraces Culture, History, and Adventure

It’s been an eventful week in Lincolnshire, with a host of diverse activities ranging from adrenaline-pumping races to captivating art installations. Let’s highlight the array of events, beginning with the eagerly awaited Grimsby 10K race slated to take place on 1 June. Despite some temporary road closures, the yearly event stands as a remarkable tribute to the communal spirit of endurance and physical wellbeing in Lincolnshire.

Moreover, Lincolnshire’s spirit of resilience is artistically interpreted by local artist Annabel McCourt in Scunthorpe. Her art installation ‘Per Ardua’, influenced by the Military’s prohibition on LGBT enlistment, serves as a potent testament to the significance of inclusivity and acceptance in our society.

In addition, Grimsby’s fascinating past is being appreciated and celebrated through a novel immersive experience based on the Viking Legend of Grim and Havelock. The musical landscape of Lincolnshire was brightened up by Ella Henderson’s return to Cleethorpes. Her performance was a huge success, with tickets to her show at the popular Meridian Showground on 13 June selling out.

In the magnificent setting of Lincoln Castle, the sweet spot where music meets visual art is being celebrated through an exhibition featuring iconic album artwork — a feast for sight and sound alike.

Lincolnshire is also making a mark on the national stage with Skegness set to be featured as a cherished holiday spot in Shane Meadows’ forthcoming film, ‘Chalk’. Furthermore, preparations are already underway for the exhilarating 2025 Lincoln Dragon Boat Race. The historic radios exhibited at Dogdyke Steam Pumping Station are bound to fascinate history and technology buffs.

To sum it up, it has been a week teeming with life and excitement for our energetic Lincoln community. We represent more than just a locality, but rather a vibrant mix of culture, history, and adventure. We look forward to continuously supporting, participating in, and taking immense pleasure in the events that make us uniquely Lincolnshire.
